Traditional, waxed dental floss is perhaps the most common floss used. We use it in our dental office, and it is widely available from almost any store. Waxed floss works well for many types of patients and is used to remove typical debris found in between the teeth. However, some patients do report that regular floss can bunch or shred between their teeth. This is common for patients who have teeth that are crowded or even crooked. For these patients a flat, dental tape product may be better to use because it glides easily without shredding.<\/p>\n
For patients who desire a thorough cleaning between their teeth, Waterpiks are also available. These devices, also known as water flossers, blast water between the teeth to clear debris and germs. While Waterpiks are nice complements to a regular flossing routine, Dr. Peck does not recommend that they replace the use of some sort of floss, which works better at strengthening your gums.<\/p>\n
